A timber frame construction has many advantages to traditional constructions while still having a full choice of external finishes – brick, stone, render and cladding.
We use sustainable timber, so any trees used are replanted. With less need for cement the carbon footprint of timber frame construction is signifintly lower.
Timber frame construction is much quicker to erect and also means the inside finishes can be progressing while the external work is being completed.
Timber frame construction makes the overall thickness of the external walls thinner creating more internal space.
Case Study: Timber Frame Extension Sheffield S17
Our client Judith required an extension to her cottage on the edge of Sheffield. Although the external finish was to be stone, we went for a timber frame construction.
- We aimed to use as many natural products as possible.
- The extra space saved by having a timber framed construction made the difference in being able to fit in a downstairs toilet.
- Carrying out the project in winter could have been a problem, but using a timber frame we were able to get on with work internally whilst the outside was being finished.
