Our clients are sometimes after something special! Wanting to embrace new materials and ideas. These have included:
- Large external glass doors; bi-folding or sliding, bringing the outside in
- Glass sky lights
- Flat, self-coloured render
- Timber cladding
- Modern high quality flat roofs
- Aluminium fascia’s and gutters
- Under floor heating
It’s a common misconception that modern style building is simple. In fact it’s more important to spend the time and effort to really make the finishes crisp and junctions meet perfectly.
Case Study: Rear Extension Sheffield S10
We first went to see the clients Clare and Daniel early on in their planning for their proposed extension. They wanted to create a large family area including:
- also incorporation a utility room, garage and porch
Having young children who enjoyed playing outside, bringing the outside in was important. We fitted sliding doors which disappeared into a pocket when open and an over sailing roof. A low threshold to blur the line between inside and outside, using matching floor materials in both areas.Even though it was important to have the playroom as part of the living space, there are times when it is nice for the children’s toys to be out of the way. We fitted sliding pocket doors made of obscure glass, which are invisible by day and can close the room off when required.
With the area being a family space it had to work for all ages, so we installed an entertainment system incorporating speakers built into the ceiling.
